Hooka is a misspelling for the proper way to spell this unique, middle-eastern waterpipe, also known as Hookah. I’ve seen it spelled hukka, hookuh, and many other ways, but the most common way to spell it wrong is definitely hooka.

Sometimes, people will even refer to the combination of shisha and hookah or the flavored tobacco itself (shisha) as hookah. There are many, many ways to misspell or call this social smoking habit – in some counties, a different word is used, like nargile, argile, nagile, or other forms. Could somebody please tell me what are the full ingredients in flavored shisha? Not just molasses, glycerin and honey. But what is in the molasses and the rest? Thanks in advance.
I thought it had no tobacco in it. Because a lot of packages say like 0% nicotine 0% tar.

I have talked to a couple of shisha manufacturers (Tangiers and Epic), not Al Fakher, unfortunately. Without giving away secrets, the process is what makes it happen. They most likely use a drying/curing process with tobacco, molasses, and the flavoring agent of choice. That creates the shisha. There are no other ingredients known to me.

Your second point addresses the health controversy regarding if hookah smoking is more or less healthful than cigarette smoking. I think the manufacturers can get away with saying 0% nicotine and 0% tar because the tobacco doesn’t actually burn in the hookah – only the flavor of the shisha is in the smoke.

I want to buy a  hookah 2 hose, although I don’t want to use my hookah solely in social situations. Can I simply remove the other hose to smoke alone, or is there somthing else I need?

It can be used solo – no problem. All you have to do is just leave the hose attached and, if no one is inhaling the smoke out of the hose, it should work properly. Or you can master it and suck out of both hoses. I personally like washable Egyptian hoses.

Can I legally bring and smoke hookah outside (example: a bonfire at a beach) in California?A couple of friends of mine and I are planning to have a bonfire. We are all over the age of 18 and will only be smoking LEGAL tobacco, nothing funny. Is it legal to smoke hookah outside, in public, in the state of California - more specifically San Diego? We are just looking to kick back and enjoy ourselves. We really don’t want to get into anything.

It should be legal anywhere it’s legal to smoke a cigarette. Just be prepared to prove that you’re not smoking illegal substances. And have fun!

Sheesha/Hookah: If I mix Vodka or Whiskey etc, with the water in my hookah pipe, will I get drunk?

Seriously, when you replace the water in your hookah with liquor, you will only experience the flavor the alcohol, none of the alcohol itself. Have you seen breathalyzers online? Just for fun, get yourself one, get a reading before you smoke, and get another reading after you smoke. You’ll find that, unless you actually drank some alcohol while you were smoking, you will get the same reading on the second round as you did on the first.

Recently in Mumbai, I came across many joints and restaurants advertising ‘Hookah Available’. Out of curiosity, I ventured into one of the places and saw some young boys and girls smoking some kind of a liquid through a pipe. I was shocked to see that, and the restaurant manager told me that it doesn’t give a high at all. Can you smoke Hookah Hookah tobacco in a normal cob pipe? We got a little corn cob pipe and we couldn’t find any pipe tobacco but we found Hookah Hookah tobacco stuff that comes in these little plastic containers. It’s kind of wet and we weren’t sure if we could just put it in the pipe and smoke it, or if it specifically needed a hookah pipe. Anyone know if  I can use a normal pipe with it?

No, you cannot smoke hookah tobacco in a corn cob pipe; it’s too wet, and will not burn.

So, here is the deal, I used to love to hookah smoking, but in my older age it really screws with my lungs. So I was wondering, is there an alternative way to get the fruity flavors without the smoke that messes with my lungs? Sadly, even the smallest amount  is effecting my lungs; I cough and hack and feel sick for the following 3 days or so, that’s why I was wondering the alternatives

Buy nicotine-free shisha and just hold the smoke in your mouth without breathing it into your lungs. Of course it won’t be completely harmless, but it won’t be addictive, and most of it won’t be going into your lungs, so you won’t have to worry as much about that.
