This is a great flavored tobacco. It really does have a strong lime taste and it’s the best Lime flavored shisha out there. The flavor on the tobacco lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours as well which is great since most hookah tobacco only lasts between 45 minutes and 60 minutes. The tobacco used in hookahs is different than that associated with cigarettes, or, indeed, any other form of smoking. It is, traditionally, a damp blend–called tobamel or maassel–of fresh tobacco leaves with molasses or honey and semi-dried fruit or fruit pulp. Some smokers would add pomegranate juice or perhaps rose oil to the water, which added flavor to the smoke. Later, hookah tobacco was also mixed with fruit extracts, and in the 1980s tobacconists began experimenting with various flavors, so that now a virtual smorgasbord of highly aromatic hookah tobacco is widely available.

While some hookah smokers still prefer a strong Turkish tobacco, many delight in the large assortment of flavored tobaccos, often called shisha. The dark, wet mixture comes in flavors ranging from apple, cherry, apricot, and watermelon, to rose, jasmine, vanilla, honey, and licorice, with more exotic blends beyond that, such as lemon-cola, cappuccino, apple-mint, and a list of custom blends that is nigh on infinite.

Since hookah tobacco is very wet it must be smoked using a hookah charcoal. Because the tobacco is heated, rather than actually burned, studies have shown that there are fewer carcinogens produced in hookah smoke than in other forms of smoking. However, concerns about the length of time smokers generally spend around a bowl of hookah tobacco do warrant consideration, and studies have shown that carbon dioxide intake is actually higher in hookah smoking. Though mellower and less carcinogenic, hookah tobacco is still tobacco and the health risks remain. Hookah tobacco should only be smoked by adults over 18 years of age, and then smoked in moderation.

Could somebody please tell me what are the full ingredients in flavored shisha? Not just molasses, glycerin and honey. But what is in the molasses and the rest? Thanks in advance.
I thought it had no tobacco in it. Because a lot of packages say like 0% nicotine 0% tar.

I have talked to a couple of shisha manufacturers (Tangiers and Epic), not Al Fakher, unfortunately. Without giving away secrets, the process is what makes it happen. They most likely use a drying/curing process with tobacco, molasses, and the flavoring agent of choice. That creates the shisha. There are no other ingredients known to me.

Your second point addresses the health controversy regarding if hookah smoking is more or less healthful than cigarette smoking. I think the manufacturers can get away with saying 0% nicotine and 0% tar because the tobacco doesn’t actually burn in the hookah – only the flavor of the shisha is in the smoke.

I recently bought a new hookah and hookah hose, I have been smoking and just now I inhaled a light brown-ish residue…this has NEVER happened before. What could it be? Serious answers only. Thanks everyone!

Ahh, the light brown-ish hookah residue issue…
It’s bound to happen, it can either mean 2 things:
1- the tobacco you’re using is rich in juice, you’ll need to dry it with a paper towel before you put the tobacco in the head thingy.
2- the hose is condensing from all the smoke + strong tobacco..
the best way to deal with this is to wash the hose, let it dry, AND dry the tobacco.
I’ve been on the Hookah for many many years now, and this will always be an issue, you need to keep the hookah clean, and the tobacco juice-free. enjoy.

Starbuzz is expensive and doesn’t really get me buzzed unless I smoke more than I am comfortable smoking. However, it is without tar, which to me is very important. I’m looking for a brand that has thick smoke, no tar, and gets me buzzed. Not Starbuzz, it says so on the label “0% tar.” And FDA approved. I’m sure it can’t be the only one.

First, all shisha tobacco has no added tar. Second, minimal tar is created because it’s cooked, not burned. So any hookah tobacco you find will be tar free.

Buzzed, huh. Well, Starbuzz is washed, it has as little nicotine as it can have without being herbal.

Do hookahs get you high? Are they illegal?I see people post pix of them ALL the time on Facebook and I’m not sure if it’s against the law or not, but does it also get you high, or does it just make for a good photo op? Sorry if I sound like a major virgin, but call me crazy for never smoking out of a traditional Indian pipe before.

Hookahs do not get you high, nor are they illegal. The substance that does both of those things has nothing to do with the apparatus itself. You can use a hookah legally to smoke tobacco (the normal kind, not the wacky kind). As to where to buy one, click on the link above.
