Shisha Review: Social Smoke Lime
This is a great flavored tobacco. It really does have a strong lime taste and it’s the best Lime flavored shisha out there. The flavor on the tobacco lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours as well which is great since most hookah tobacco only lasts between 45 minutes and 60 minutes. I definitely recommend you try Social Smoke Tobacco, you will be very satisfied. NOTE Image used with permission from Social Smoke Company.

Substances used for smoking hookah need not be completely dry. The most commonly used substance (known as tobamel or maassel) is a 1:2 mixture of tobacco with a sweet substance such as honey, molasses, or semi-dried fruit. Originally tobacco was mixed with one of these sweeteners to form jurak (e.g. Zhaghoul brand), a flavorless, moistened tobacco. Fruit-flavored shisha got its start in the late 1980s when Egyptian tobacco companies experimented with flavored tobacco as a way to transition people away from cigarette smoking. Today, shisha tobacco comes in many flavours, such as apple, strawberry, melon, cappuccino or mint, and is often mixed with dried fruit extracts.
In a hookah, tobamel (maassel) is not directly ignited but is heated to a high temperature using lit coals. These coals rest on a metal mesh or perforated aluminum foil which covers a clay or metal bowl containing the tobacco. When a user inhales through the hose, the coals heat the shisha, producing smoke. The smoke then enters the body of the hookah, passing through a glass receptacle containing water which filters and cools the smoke. The smoker inhales this smoke through a long hose with a mouth piece. This filtration is suggested to filter out, in part, tar and nicotine from the tobacco. However, most brands of shisha tobacco generally contain a mention saying “no tar” and very small amounts of nicotine (0.5%) to begin with.
Due to the mechanics of the hookah, multi-person hookahs exist, where multiple hoses lead to a single tobacco chamber. These are popular in the Western world where hookah smoking is a social phenomenon.

What is Hookah
First created in the Middle East many hundreds of years ago, the hookah pipe is considered very cool by teen smokers in North America. The hookah, also known by different names as the shisha, narghile or the slang term hubble-bubble, actually consists of a metal cylinder fitted with a vessel containing burning coals on the top, a vessel containing water at the bottom and a hose through which smoke is inhaled.
Hookah smoking requires some preparation. The mixture to be smoked contains flavored tobacco and a mild substance such as honey, molasses or some dried fruit. When the smoker inhales through the hose, a pressure buildup inside the hookah chamber causes the smoke to run into the mouth of the smoker. Before the smoke reaches the hose, it has to pass through the lighted coal and the water. The coal heats up the smoke and the water cools it down.
The water absorbs most of the nicotine and tar from the hookah smoke. In addition, hookah smoking mixtures that are available in the market are labeled as âno-tarâ and have less nicotine.
Hookah smoke is not irritating at the onset like cigarettes or cigars. The tobacco is combined with a pleasant fruit essences. Men and women alike enjoy smoking the hookah.
Hookah smoke is not like smoking other forms of tobacco. It is filtered by water which gets rid of many of the unpleasant chemicals you would usually get from other methods of ingesting tobacco.
Hookah-smoking is also a cultural activity enjoyed by many culutres in the east and is quickly gaining popularity in the west.
There are hookahs with several hoses fitted to them, enabling a number of people to smoke the hookah at the same time. You can find them at www.iWantHookah.com .Â
There are many flavors of tobacco that you may use with your hookahâ apple, vanilla, cappuccino, strawberry, pomegranate, orange, etc. Today hookah-smoking has become a very fashionable thing to do at coffee shops and lounges around the world.

i just got a hookah and…?
i tried to smoke my hookah and i can’t taste anything. i used Layalina brand double apple molasses and regular water. is hookah normally pertty flavorless or am i doing something wrong? any suggestions?
Layalina is a pretty mild brand. Perfect for newbies to the hookah to get use to it.
Here some tips to get a stronger smoke with Layalina and other tobacco:
1. Let it acclimate in the open air for about an hour
2. If it’s juicy like I remember it being separate with your fingers and place it in the bowl.
3. If using hookah foil between your tobacco and coal make larger holes in the foil. Oyster forks work best.
4. Use less coals.
5. Try putting in more shisha tobacco than you did last time
6. If it’s dry put a few drops of honey or vegetable glycerin to remoisten it.
I would also try a few different brand for some better taste like Romman, Hookah-Hookah, Fumari, or Starbuzz
