Hookah 101
I worked in Bahrain for almost a year, and may stay there was quite an experience. There was this time that I went to this area in Manama the capital of Bahrain where they have a lot of shops that was very affordable for tourist that wants to buy some souvenirs. But there is this activity that made me curious to peek in to this certain shop where they are smoking in a different way. I have learned that in the Arab countries, people smoke hookahs as part of their culture and traditions. Social smoking is done with a single or double hose, and sometimes even more numerous such as a triple or quadruple hose in the forms of parties or small get-togethers. When the smoker is finished, either the hose is placed back on the table signifying that it is available, or it is handed from one user to the next, folded back on itself so that the mouthpiece is not pointing at the recipient. It has been recorded that the Arabs are the biggest shisha smokers in the World and have the most shisha Cafes.
That was the place I was in. The most highly-dressed and beautiful hookah was prepared for me. I tried it, but did not like it. For the reason that, I was not really smoking. As after several attempts I still found it disagreeable in taste, I with much willingness requested to know whether it was really necessary that I should become a smoker, which was answered with equal gravity, “Undoubtedly it is, for you might as well be out of the world as out of the fashion. In this place everybody uses a hookah, and it is impossible to get on without” as told to me by the shop owner and have frequently heard men declare they would much rather be deprived of their dinner than their hookah.
A hookah is known by many different names in different parts of the world, a hubble-bubble or hubbly-bubbly, a water pipe. The most famous instance of hookah smoking is probably that of the caterpillar in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. A hookah consists of a hollow glass (sometimes clay or brass) base which is filled with water, a vertical pipe topped with a clay bowl for the shisha and coals, and a usually colorful hose. When one sucks on the hose, the smoke is drawn down the pipe and through the water, which cools and filters it. This also produces a peaceful bubbling sound. This sound is as delightful now as the prospect of blowing bubbles in a glass of milk was to most of us when we were in kindergarten. While Shisha is tobacco mixed with molasses and fruit flavors and is smoked in a hookah. Shisha tobacco is not your typical tobacco. It’s nothing like the tobacco you find in cigars, cigarettes, or dip. No, smoking true nargile shisha is an entirely different experience.
Shisha Tobacco is the Best as it’s been well documented in the media; the tobacco in cigarettes is anything but pure. Large amounts of nicotine and other additives make it extremely harmful. Some cigarettes claim to be additive free, but plain tobacco isn’t terribly pleasant to smoke. Smoked for flavor and not for any kind of effect, it proves a relaxing and peaceful pursuit. Since shisha is tobacco, smoking it involves some of the same ill effects as other types of smoking. It is very light and flavorful with a wonderful fruity aroma. The most popular flavor is apple; others include strawberry, pineapple, apricot, grape, rose, mint, and even cappuccino! (There is even an exclusive cola flavor). Is that cool or what?
In the Middle East, from Turkey to India , there are shisha cafes where people gather to smoke and drink coffee or tea. Smoking shisha can last two hours or more and is a very peaceful, social occasion generally filled with good conversation with friends. A shisha smoking session can last from thirty minutes up to and hour. As an ex-cigarette smoker, as said by a hookah smoker would explain says that shisha smoking is very smooth and most unnoticeable when inhaled.
If you are a smoker, what are you waiting for I would suggest you try hookah for you to have a different experience in the world of smoking. Enjoy.

Smoking Hookahs Is Gaining In Popularity
Hookah lounges, hookah bars, hookah cafes – suddenly, after being smoked in Middle Eastern countries for hundreds of years, smoking hookahs has become wildly popular here in the United States. People of all ages and all ethnic backgrounds are smoking these traditional water pipes for fun and as a relaxing social activity. I was even watching HGTV the other day and saw one in a living room on House Hunters!A hookah is a water pipe, and has a culture all its own. Shisha tobacco is smoked in the hookah and comes in a multitude of flavors. Herbal shisha, which contains no tobacco, tar, or nicotine, is also available. There is controversy regarding any health effects of smoking shisha, as some people feel it is a more healthful approach to smoking than smoking a cigarette.Part of the allure of hookahs is the variety of it all as well as how much fun you can have. There are mini hookahs and hookahs that are several feet tall, with all sizes in between. There are hookahs with just one hose, and those with many hoses. There are very simple hookahs, and very elaborate hookahs. There are modern hookahs and there are traditional hookahs. Even more variety is created with the actual smoking of the hookah. Lots of people experiment by combining different shishas together, using different kinds of liquids, like fruit juices or colas, instead of water. Others have used hollowed out apples, oranges, etc., to use as smoking bowls. And if you discover a new way of smoking hookahs, you can make a video and broadcast it online! Lots of other people like to videotape their smoke rings tricks, which is also a must-do at any hookah party.Another part of the hookah popularity is in the artistry of the hookah. They can be very elaborate and colorful, made with hand-painted and hand-blown glass, and appointed with precious metals like silver or gold. If a hookah is made by hand, it can truly be a one-of-a-kind work of art.You can buy your hookah shisha at a hookah shop, or you can order from many online vendors. The most popular one, www.hookah-kings.com, not only offers all types of hookahs, shishas, and smoking accessories, their blog has gone live, too. The website answers all your hookah questions: How do you set up your hookah? Which is better, a single-hose or multiple-hose hookah? Should I get a washable hose? How much liquid do I put in the base? Do I need to add ice cubes? Which brand of shisha is best? Are herbal shishas any good? How do you pack your shisha? What kind of charcoal should I use? What’s the best way to light the charcoal? How do you cover your smoking bowl? Do I really need a wind cover? Should I get a traditional Egyptian hookah? Once you discover the mystique that’s hookah, you’ll discover a new, relaxing activity that people have been enjoying for centuries.

Water Pipe, Hookah Pipe, Nargile: They All Smoke The Same
The words water pipe make most people instantly think of a bong, but a water pipe is also known as a hookah pipe or nargile; depending on what country you’re in, as each has a different term for the same thing. Hookah pipes been used for centuries throughout the world. It has been reported that, centuries ago, an Indian physician by the name of Hakim Abul Fateh Gilani originated the water pipe. Europeans had introduced tobacco to India, and Dr. Gilani looked for a way to purify the tobacco’s smoke. The water pipe operates by a combination of water filtration and indirect heat. A water pipe can have single or multiple stems, and is used to smoke hookah tobacco, which is also known as shisha tobacco. Shisha is a sticky form of tobacco that’s been flavored with honey, molasses, and/or fruit extracts.Your water pipe / hookah pipe / nargile requires regular cleaning – about every 5 to 10 days. It’s very easy to do; all you need is hot water, a little dishwashing liquid, and a brush. Your online resource where you buy hookah even carries brushes that are specifically designed for cleaning hookah pipes. Once clean, it’s important that it dry completely before your next smoking session. Just to be safe, let it air dry overnight. Don’t slack off on the regular cleanings, because it not only adds to the lifetime of your hookah pipe, it also helps to guarantee a pleasant smoking experience each time you light your hookah tobacco. The water you use in your hookah pipe should be changed each time you smoke. You can ensure a satisfying smoke by filling your base only halfway with water, making sure that only 1 or 2 inches of stem are submerged. This gives the smoke enough room to expand within the hookah pipe before your inhale it. And, to add to the excitement that is hookah, try different kinds of liquids, from juices to sodas, or milk – even wine or liquor. Let your creativity guide you. Some people like to add ice to their liquids, and some people even chill their hookah hoses!Your smoking accessories also contribute to a great smoking experience. A long-burning charcoal equals a long smoking session (about an hour). When you’re planning on smoking your hookah pipe, make sure you light you charcoal first. Producing thick and white clouds means you’ve prepared your hookah pipe properly.Another important accessory is the smoking bowl. The traditional bowl of the Egyptian hookah is made of clay from the banks of the Nile River. Today, however, phunnel bowls are popular because they better contain the juice of the hookah tobacco. Otherwise, it can leak down the stem into the liquid. Yes, the people who smoke hookah take it very seriously. You will, too, when you become part of this centuries old tradition.

Cheap Hookah Hoses
Finding cheap Hookah Hoses doesn’t mean buying the first cheap or ugly hookah you find. You need to consider the quality difference between hookahs. Hand-blown glass in shimmering colors, elegantly traced in 21 karat gold, crystal, highly glazed ceramics, cloisonn-decorated brass, stainless steel worked into graceful curves, and carved wooden pieces all go into the making of a hookah. Since part of the joy of hookah smoking is the beauty and aesthetic pleasure of the hookah itself, wholesale hookahs come in a variety of lovely designs only surpassed by expensive custom models. In addition, styles range from traditional Egyptian and Syrian to modern and neo-exotic interpretations of the classic hookah, rotating hookahs, and more.
Things to look for in wholesale hookahs are quality of craftsmanship and durability of materials used. Stainless steel, Pyrex glass, and stone or ceramic are the best materials, the ones which can take repeated use while continuing to provide a pleasurable, smoking experience. Some metals, like copper, should be avoided (smoking from copper is actually poisonous). Wholesale hookahs are available in wood and brass and other materials, but these materials will not stand up terribly well to the test of time and use.
The base, or vase, of the hookah, is generally where the most artistic effort is expended, as it sets the tone for the whole piece. Hoses should be durable and include replaceable, disposable mouthpieces for individual smokers; hoses come in a variety of styles, from the basic to those covered in soft velvety fabric in lush colors, with carved and dyed wooden ends. The stem between the body and the tobacco bowl can vary widely in height, and is most often a gracefully wrought stainless steel in today’s hookahs. The tobacco bowl will be stone, glazed or unglazed clay, metal, or beautifully colored and shaped Pyrex, and can range in design from simple to ornamental.
Wholesalers will generally require a minimum purchase of $250 to $400, though some will have a higher first-time minimum. Wholesale hookah prices range from $30 to $60 per pipe. A number of accessories must be considered when looking at wholesale hookahs, among them the metal tongs, or pincers, for the hookah charcoal, screens for holding the coal, the hookah charcoal itself, disposable mouthpieces, cleaning brushes, rubber stoppers, and replacement bases, hoses, grommets, and other parts.

How can I buy a Hookah that will not rust?
I need tobuy a hookah because the one i had rusted and now it’s useless. How can i make sure the new one will not rust as well? Is there anything I can do to stop this? I am looking for a glass hookah with two hoses that can break apart and fit in a box for easy traveling. Please give me some advice and perhaps a website with the kind of hookahs i am looking for.
Make sure to get one that is brass or nickel plated. That will resist rust for years. Or all aluminum, that will never rust.

Light brown residue coming from my hookah hose…what is it?
I recently bought a new hookah and hookah hose, I have been smoking and just now I inhaled a light brown-ish residue…this has NEVER happened before. What could it be? Serious answers only. Thanks everyone!
Ahh, the light brown-ish hookah residue issue…
It’s bound to happen, it can either mean 2 things:
1- the tobacco you’re using is rich in juice, you’ll need to dry it with a paper towel before you put the tobacco in the head thingy.
2- the hose is condensing from all the smoke + strong tobacco..
the best way to deal with this is to wash the hose, let it dry, AND dry the tobacco.
I’ve been on the Hookah for many many years now, and this will always be an issue, you need to keep the hookah clean, and the tobacco juice-free. enjoy.

Can a hookah 2 hose be used by one person?
I want to buy a hookah 2 hose, although I don’t want to use my hookah solely in social situations. Can I simply remove the other hose to smoke alone, or is there somthing else I need?
It can be used solo – no problem. All you have to do is just leave the hose attached and, if no one is inhaling the smoke out of the hose, it should work properly. Or you can master it and suck out of both hoses. I personally like washable Egyptian hoses.

How to Clean a Washable Hose for Best Results
The biggest complaint I hear is that a new hookah hose tastes like plastic. That, and the fact that the glue that holds the grommets in place tends to come loose, and tends to fall apart. This video is a little method I’ve come up to clean a washable hookah hose to get the plastic taste out of a new washable hose without getting the bands wet and to keep the glue intact. Don’t worry – you won’t be able to taste the vinegar once it’s rinsed. Be sure to check out hookahpro.com for more user videos, reviews, tip, tricks and more.
